Philadelphia, Pa – February 13, 2019– Philabundance, the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organization, is pleased to announce the hiring of Sara Hertz as the new Chief Development Officer (CDO), effective immediately.

As Chief Development Officer, Hertz is responsible for developing strategies to secure and manage new and existing donors, providing oversight of the grants, direct mail, major gifts and corporate sponsorship programs, and collaborating closely with other teams to determine funding needed to help end hunger for good.

“Philabundance is delighted to have Sara join our team and support our work to end hunger for good,” said Executive Director Glenn Bergman. “Her experience and knowledge in leading campaigns, inspiring action, and pushing for rapid growth, will be invaluable, especially as we enter our 35th year and launch new, ground-breaking initiatives.”

Prior to joining Philabundance, Hertz advised nonprofits on coordinating and managing development projects as a consultant with Schultz & Williams, a national fundraising consulting firm. With more than 30 years of experience in development roles, Hertz has also held positions as Vice President of Development at Conservation International, Vice President of Operations for the Academy of Natural Sciences, and Vice President of Development for the Philadelphia Zoo.

“It’s an honor to join the executive team at Philabundance,” said Hertz. “Fighting hunger is a big job, and I’m thrilled to be able to work for the organization that’s leading the charge in the Delaware Valley.”

Active in her local community, Hertz is an elected member of Ambler Borough Council, and is a co-founder of the Ambler Farmers’ Market, which provides access to fresh, local food. She also serves on the board of directors for the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association.

A native of Philadelphia, Hertz is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she earned a B.A. in English. She currently resides in Ambler with her wife and their rescue dog, Georgia; the couple has two grown children.
