Thank you to everyone who attended our Health and Hunger webinar, the first of our Food for Thought Virtual Conversation Series.
This webinar featured a panel of speakers with national, regional, and local perspectives on the issue of food insecurity in relation to health and well-being.
If you missed the event last week, you can find a recording here.
Philabundance CEO, Loree D. Jones kicked off the lunchtime learning session with an introduction and overview of food insecurity.
Allison Bovell-Ammon, Director of Policy Strategy at Children’s HealthWatch, then shared some findings from national research around food insecurity, touching upon health outcomes from pre-natal to old age.
Joan Boyce, Senior Director of Government Relations & Public Affairs at Einstein, continued the conversation on the connection between nutrition and health of the patient population.
Pauline Cheung, Principal of Francis Scott Key School, walked us through some of her efforts to connect and collaborate with community partners, explaining why it is so vital for students to have adequate, nutritional food.
Samantha Mogil, Senior Manager of Ending Hunger for Good at Philabundance, discussed some of the ways Philabundance is addressing the cycle of food insecurity and health issues it perpetuates.
The webinar concluded with a live Q&A moderated by Loree Jones.
